Our pastor, Mike McKinley, was raised in suburban Philadelphia. He received a B.A. in Religion and Classics from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, and an M.Div from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia.
In 2004, Mike was brought onto the pastoral staff at Capitol Hill Baptist Church as a church planter. In 2005, he brought a small group of people from CHBC to Guilford in order to help revitalize the church’s ministry. He has served as Guilford’s pastor since June of 2005. Mike has been married to Karen (his college sweetheart!) since 1997. They have five beautiful children, Kendall (2002), Knox (2004), Phineas (2005), Ebenezer (2008), and Harper (2011).
In his free time, Mike loves to spend time with his family, reading all kinds of books, and daydreaming about the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Eagles. You can read a few of Mike’s articles at 9marks.org and christianity.com.

Hunter Powell joined Guilford as our Associate Pastor in July 2011. He received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, and holds an M.Div from Westminster Theological Seminary, an M.Phil from the University of Cambridge, and a Ph.D in history, also from the University of Cambridge.
Prior to his advanced studies, Hunter worked at Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington DC, and while at seminary he was a pastoral intern at Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia. He is married to Laura, who he met in Washington DC, and they have three children, Whitefield (2004), Hudson (2005) and Kate (2008). In their free time, the Powells enjoy reading, travel, and particularly hiking.

Hunter is currently working on a book on congregational church government at the Westminster Assembly, and co-editing a volume on church government in the English-speaking world, 1630-1660.
