erry was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, and graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in business. He moved to Chicago for a job opportunity in 1969, where he met his wife Louise. They settled in Kansas City, where the first three of their five children were born. Another job change took them to Reston, Virginia, and it was at this point in their lives that the Holy Spirit converted them to Christ. A new hunger for the Bible became life to them and they began attending a Christian church. Through their two youngest children, Jerry and Louise were introduced to reformed theology, and then to Guilford Baptist Church. The solid and challenging expositional preaching at Guilford has caused them to grow in the Lord. They want to be lifelong learners so they can grow in their knowledge of Christ. The Purdys enjoy spending time with their five children, seven grandchildren, and their church family at Guilford. They also love reading good books, and enjoying good conversation and food with friends.

ill grew up just outside Atlantic City, NJ, hating Christians and striving for fame. In 2003, while attending pre-marital counseling with his now wife, Megan, God sovereignly rescued Bill through the beauty and majesty of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Two months later, he and Megan graduated from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey and were married in October of 2003. Bill had the joy of serving as the worship pastor for a church in Somers Point, NJ, and later, while living in Minneapolis, MN, served on a music team and lead multiple "mission-focused" small groups in his church there. In March of 2011, God moved Bill and his family to Northern Virginia through a job as a corporate trainer. The Harrises came to Guilford in June of that year and have since been blessed to see and love the holiness, love, and grace of God through the preaching of his Word, the gentle and loving example of the leaders, and the desire for Christ in the people. When not at work, Bill enjoys hanging out with his wife and four children (Joshua, Grace, Elijah, and Amara), studying wilderness survival, camping/hiking, writing songs, reading suspense novels, shooting black and white photography, and looking forward to the day when he'll be able to go hunting, knowing he'll need to actually shoot a gun first.

aron originally hails from Hawaii, and moved out to Virginia when he attended Patrick Henry College. He started attending Guilford Baptist Church during his freshman year, and began working with Children's Ministry during his senior year. The son of a pastor who would do "children's moment" messages to the children in the congregation before his sermon, Aaron's love for children, the Word, and children learning the Word through teaching has been a long-time passion for him. In his spare time, Aaron loves running, hiking, anything involving a power drill, taking the long way home in his pickup truck, and caring for local horses.
ayla was born in Brazil but grew up in North Idaho where the antelope really do roam. There was not much to do in Idaho but grow, pick, or herd things. Layla loved reading and writing about other people’s lives. So, when she graduated from Patrick Henry College in Virginia, she became a journalist. Writing about crime and poverty in Northern Virginia exposed Layla to many lives broken by sin. In 2010, Layla decided to pursue a clinical social work degree. She hopes to counsel at-risk youth and families. By God’s grace, Layla came to a saving knowledge of Christ as a child. She desires to know more of Christ, and to help others do the same. In 2007, Layla joined Guilford Baptist Church where she serves as deaconess of mercy ministries. She enjoys reading, running, live music, and coffee shops. She also still loves all things that are western.
rian Spears was raised in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, primarily fed a diet of meat, potatoes and Redskins enthusiasm. He met his wife, Suzy, at a Walmart in 2003 and they married the following year. In 2005, Brian and Suzy moved to Northern Virginia and struggled to find a suitable church. God heard their prayers and in less than a year, Mike McKinley, GBC's pastor, and his family became neighbors to the Spears' as they moved in next door. Though having worked a variety of jobs through the years, starting up and running his own landscaping business surprisingly equipped Brian to transition smoothly into the role of church administrator. Being gifted both in the office and as a handy man, Brian's established a well-rounded, dependable reputation. And, being one to never forget a face or a name, he's especially qualified himself as "The Guy Who Knows a Guy." He and his wife, Suzy, welcomed their son, Bennett, into the world in October 2012.
